Background: Nitroglycerin is used for acute reduction in uterine tone. Prolonged oxytocin exposure causes desensitization of oxytocin receptors. It is unknown if nitroglycerin exposure impacts the subsequent action of oxytocin in the setting of oxytocin receptor desensitization.

Background: Approximately 20% of strokes are attributable to carotid stenosis. However, the number of asymptomatic patients needed to prevent one stroke or death with endarterectomy is high at 17 to 32. Objectives: Carotid stenosis accounts for 20% of ischemic strokes and can be managed with pharmacotherapy alone or in conjunction with carotid endarterectomy or stenting.
