Unlabelled: The L-forms of bacteria have not been studied carefully yet, because it is difficult to detect them in Gram stain reactions by light microscopy. They can be cultured on specialized hypertonic medium. We don't find any reports about intentional in vitro induction and assessment of frequency of L-forms of S.

L-forms of S. epidermidis were induced at 35 degrees C with the use of an L-form medium with penicillin. The aim of this study was to evaluate the frequency of L-form induction and demonstrate whether the origin of the clinical strains affects the frequency of L-forms induction, as well as to study whether the time of action of the antibiotic has an influence on frequency of L-form induction.

P. aeruginosa are opportunistic microorganisms which caused serious hospital infections. The resistance of 763rd strains of Pseudomonas aeruginosa to selected antibiotics (beta-lactams, aminoglycosides, quinolones) were tested by disk-diffusion method.

Proteus mirabilis are opportunistic microorganisms which cause serious hospital infections. The resistance of 1038 strains of P. mirabilis to selected antibiotics (lactams, aminoglycosides, fluoroquinolones, nitrofurantoin, cotrimoxazole, tetracycline) was tested by disk diffusion method.

Unlabelled: Slime production defines the ability of bacterial strains to colonize host tissues and biomaterials. Slime production by coagulase-negative Staphylococcus and its role in disease have been studied intensively in recent years. Much less is known about this trait in species Staphylococcus aureus.
