The Radiosurgery Society Working Groups on GRID, LATTICE, Microbeam, and FLASH Radiotherapies: 2022 - 2023 Advancements Symposium and Subsequent Progress Made.

Purpose: Since the inaugural workshop "Understanding High-Dose, Ultra-High Dose Rate and Spatially Fractionated Radiotherapy." hosted by the NCI and sponsored by the Radiosurgery Society (RSS), growing collaborations and investigations have ensued among experts, practitioners, and researchers. The RSS GRID, Lattice, Microbeam & FLASH (GLMF) Working Groups were formed as a framework for these efforts and have focused on advancing the understanding of the biology, technical/physical parameters, trial design, and clinical practice of these new radiation therapy modalities.

Squaramide Organocatalyzed Addition of a Masked Acyl Cyanide to β-Nitrostyrenes.

A method for the squaramide-organocatalyzed enantioselective addition of a silyl-protected masked acyl cyanide (MAC) reagent to various β-nitrostyrenes is described. Reactions are carried out in a freezer and provide products cleanly and in high enantioselectivities at very low catalyst loadings. Adducts are then unmasked, providing various oxidation state 3 functional groups, thereby highlighting the utility of these MAC reagents and a new strategy for the preparation of β-amino acids.

Fertility outcomes following surgery and multiagent chemotherapy in malignant ovarian germ cell tumor survivors: a survey study.

Objective: To assess fertility outcomes in long-term survivors of malignant ovarian germ cell tumors treated with fertility-sparing surgery with or without additional chemotherapy.

Methods: Women diagnosed and treated for malignant ovarian germ cell tumors at Charing Cross Hospital or Mount Vernon Cancer Centre between 1977 and 2015 were included. Questionnaires assessing fertility issues were sent to patients treated with fertility-sparing surgery.

Synthesis of 2,3-Disubstituted Pyrroles by Lewis Acid Promoted Cyclization of -Sulfonyl Vinylogous Carbamates and Amides.

A three-step sequence to construct pyrroles from three components including 2,2-dimethoxyethylamine, aryl/alkyl sulfonyl chlorides and alkynes bearing electron-withdrawing groups is presented. The pyrroles are proposed to arise via a 5--trig cyclization proceeding through both oxocarbenium and -sulfonyliminium ions. This modular route allows for the variability at the -sulfonyl group, the C2 and C3 substituents for rational vectoring of the pyrrole nucleus for downstream processes.

A North-West London Experience of the Impact of Treatment Related Toxicity on Clinical Outcomes of Elderly Patients with Germ Cell Tumors.

Background/Aim: The occurrence of germ cell tumour (GCT) in the elderly is rare, with scarce data available. The aim of this study was to understand the clinical outcomes of patients with GCT in patients aged > 45 years. Materials and Methods: A retrospective study was conducted in a large tertiary cancer centre in north-west London.
