- The review included data from 18 studies with a total of 2,516 FISH specimens, identifying 1,133 cases (45.0%) of malignancy, while reporting an overall sensitivity of 57.6% and specificity of 87.8% across studied definitions.
- Results indicated that using polysomy alone as a positive threshold provided high specificity (96.2%) but lower sensitivity (49.4%), whereas combining polysomy with tetrasomy/trisomy improved sensitivity to 64.3% but reduced specificity
Cholangiocarcinoma (CCA) is a highly aggressive form of liver cancer and is an increasing cause of cancer-related death worldwide. Despite its increasing incidence globally and alarming mortality, treatment options for CCA have largely remained unchanged, stressing the importance of developing new effective therapies. YAP activation is common in CCA, and its major transcriptional signaling partners are the TEAD proteins.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFCholangiopathies comprise a spectrum of chronic intrahepatic and extrahepatic biliary tract disorders culminating in progressive cholestatic liver injury, fibrosis, and often cirrhosis and its sequela. Treatment for these diseases is limited, and collectively, they are one of the therapeutic "black boxes" in clinical hepatology. The etiopathogenesis of the cholangiopathies likely includes disease-specific mediators but also common cellular and molecular events driving disease progression (eg, cholestatic fibrogenesis, inflammation, and duct damage).

The aim of this trial was to assess the efficiency and accuracy of cytologists using a novel application with this AI tool.
Methods: Consecutive bile duct brushing WSIs from indeterminate strictures were obtained.
Biliary tract cancers, including cholangiocarcinoma, gallbladder, and ampulla of Vater cancers, rank second among hepatobiliary cancers, known for their poor prognoses. The United States has witnessed a notable increase in intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma incidence. This study examines the incidence and survival outcomes of biliary tract cancers in Olmsted County, Minnesota from 1976 to 2018.
