Integrated circuits (ICs) and central processing units (CPUs), essential components of electrical and electronic equipment (EEE), are complex composite materials rich in recyclable high-value strategic and critical metals, with many in concentrations higher than in their natural ores. With gold the most valuable metal present, increase in demand for gold for EEE and its limited availability have led to a steep rise in the market price of gold, making gold recycling a high priority to meet demand. To overcome the limitations associated with conventional technologies for recycling e-waste, the use of greener technologies (ionic liquids (ILs) as leaching agents), offers greater potential for the recovery of gold from e-waste components.

Long-term outcomes after amputation and sentinel node biopsy for subungual melanoma: A single-institution series.

Background: Subungual melanoma (SUM) is a rare tumor with historically poor outcomes. Thus, the benefit of proximal versus distal amputation in SUM remains unclear.

Methods: We performed a retrospective review of our prospectively-maintained institutional melanoma database, including SUM and non-subungual acral melanoma (AM) patients who underwent sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) between 1999 and 2022.

The postnatal effects of perineal trauma on maternal psychological and emotional wellbeing: A longitudinal study.

Objective: To examine the postnatal psychological health and parenting adjustment of primiparous women experiencing perineal trauma.

Study Design: Longitudinal cohort study assessing body image, perceptions of traumatic birth, psychological distress, perineal pain, impact upon parental tasks and mother-infant bonding at 6-12 weeks (n = 103) and 6-10 months postnatally (n = 91). Primiparous women were recruited following vaginal birth and perineal suturing in a UK-based maternity hospital.
