Parenchymal weight of the adult human kidney can be considered the most adequate measure of the amount of the working renal tissue. It can be estimated fairly accurately from multivariate regression equations derived from the study of 287 specimens. The equations enable the calculation of unit clearance values per 100 g renal parenchyma in the living.
