Hydraulic functionality is crucial for tree productivity and stress tolerance. According to the theory of the fast-slow economics spectrum, the adaptive strategies of different tree species diverge along a spectrum defined by coordination and trade-offs of a suite of functional traits. The fast- and slow-growing species are expected to differ in hydraulic efficiency and safety; however, there is still a lack of investigation on the mechanistic association between tree growth rate and tree hydraulic functionality.

Concurrent inhibition of HDAC and BRD4, two well-established epigenetic targets for anti-tumor therapy, demonstrates the potential to enhance anti-tumor effects synergistically. The present study involves the development of a series of novel HDAC3/BRD4 dual inhibitors, followed by evaluation of their antitumor efficacy against several tumor models. Guided by scaffold hopping strategy, key pharmacophore of BRD4 inhibitor I-BET-151 was incorporated into an in-house developed HDAC3-selective inhibitor 17h.

This research developed a magnetic relaxation switching (MRS) biosensor based on hydrogel sol-gel transition and the CRISPR/Cas12a system (MRS-CRISPR) to detect Salmonella. Herein, the alkaline phosphatase (ALP) labeled with streptavidin was captured by the biotin-modified DNA on magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) surface, which generated an acidic environment via enzymatic reaction to release Ca and induced the transformation of alginate sol to hydrogels. In contrast, Salmonella activated the trans-cleavage activity of the CRISPR/Cas12a system, interrupting the capture of ALP and the subsequent sol-gel transition.
