An increasing number of people uses the internet for information retrieval. In the past three years nearly every University Eye Hospital provides its own information using homepages in the Internet. More and more Eye Departments and comprehensive ophthalmologists use the Internet to provide information on their own.

[Prediction of pharmacological effect of octreotide in acromegaly by means of 111In-pentetreotide scintigraphy and calculation of a pituitary uptake index].

Aim: The aim of our prospective study was to optimize the determination of the pituitary somatostatin receptor status by means of 111-In-pentetreotide scintigraphy and to compare it intraindividually with the pharmacological effect of octreotide in active acromegaly.

Methods: In n = 22 patients with growth hormone (GH) secreting pituitary adenoma, 111-In-pentetreotide scintigraphy was performed, and the specific radionuclide accumulation in the pituitary area (evaluation visually as well as semiquantitatively by means of ROI technique and calculation of various uptake indices) was correlated with the acute drop of GH after administration of 100 micrograms octreotide s. c.

[Digital multilayer tomography. A description of the method and initial clinical results].

A set of projection images is acquired during longitudinal tomography with an image intensifier TV system. Reconstruction of tomograms in each desired plane is achieved by shifting and summing up of the digitalized projection images. Digital multilayer and conventional film tomograms mainly of the respiratory tract and skeleton have been compared in 100 patients.
