Correlated photon-pair sources are key components for quantum computing, networking, synchronization, and sensing applications. Integrated photonics has enabled chip-scale sources using nonlinear processes, producing high-rate time-energy and polarization entanglement at telecom wavelengths with sub-100 microwatt pump power. Many quantum systems operate in the visible or near-infrared ranges, necessitating visible-telecom entangled-pair sources for connecting remote systems via entanglement swapping and teleportation.

We examined the prevalence of a range of mental health disorders in a national cohort of adults born with a VLBW, as well as associations between gestational age and mental health outcomes. All infants born with a VLBW in New Zealand in 1986 were followed prospectively from birth.

This feasibility study examines whether an online reading programme, Headsprout, with additional support strategies and supervision (the intervention), can be delivered by support workers/family carers and the feasibility of conducting a later large-scale effectiveness trial.
Methods: The study used a 2-arm randomised controlled trial (RCT) design with an embedded process evaluation using a mixed methods approach.
The formation of reverse micelles by aerosol-OT [sodium bis(2-ethylhexyl) sulfosuccinate] in hydrocarbon solvents, and in the presence of water, is studied using a combination of atomistic molecular-dynamics simulations and small-angle neutron scattering (SANS). There have been many previous studies of aerosol-OT and its self-assembly in both water and non-aqueous solvents, but this work is focused on a combined experimental and simulation study of reverse-micelle formation. The effects of hydration (with water-to-surfactant molar ratios in the range 0-60) and solvent (cyclohexane and -dodecane) are investigated.
