Introduction: Transplacental infections are frequent, especially in developing countries, where limited screening is performed to find infectious agents in the pregnant population. We aim to determine the clinical and epidemiological characteristics and seroinfection of antibodies against , parvovirus B19, , and HIV in pregnant women who attended the Motupe Health Center in Lambayeque, Peru during July-August 2018.
Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted in 179 pregnant women interviewed with a standardized questionnaire.
Objective: To estimate the burden of disease and economic burden attributable to the consumption of sugar-sweetened beverages in El Salvador.
Methods: A comparative risk model was used to estimate the effects on deaths, health events, disability-adjusted life years (DALYs), and direct medical costs attributable to the consumption of sugar-sweetened beverages.
Results: A total of 520 deaths (8 per 100 000 individuals), 214 082 health events (3 220 per 100 000 individuals) and 16 643 DALYs could be attributable to the consumption of sugar-sweetened beverages in El Salvador, representing US$69.
Background: Narrative photography is a method that can enhance nursing students' empathy when caring for individuals with HIV.
Method: This quasiexperimental pre-test-posttest study included 28 first-year nursing students from a public university in Barcelona, Spain. Empathy was assessed using the Spanish validated version of the Interpersonal Reactivity Index.
Background And Objectives: Infestation with Demodex mites has been associated with acne vulgaris. The aim of this study was to explore the association between Demodex infestation and severe acne vulgaris in outpatients seen at Hospital Regional Lambayeque in Chiclayo, Peru.
Material And Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional study of 46 patients with severe acne and 92 patients with nonsevere acne.
