Article Synopsis
- A drug-use evaluation (DUE) was conducted on the use of i.v. alteplase for treating acute myocardial infarction (AMI) in two community hospitals, monitoring 118 patients from Nov 1987 to June 1989.
- The study included patients under 75 years with chest pain for less than six hours, and measurements were taken on the time taken to diagnose AMI and initiate treatment, as well as pharmacy preparation times.
- Results showed a 6.4% in-hospital mortality rate, an 85% artery patency rate at one week post-treatment, minimal severe bleeding complications, and no strokes among the patients.
