Phenotypic and genetic characterization of Africanized colonies with natural tolerance to and contrasting defensive behavior.

Africanized colonies with promising characteristics for beekeeping have been detected in northern Argentina (subtropical climate) and are considered of interest for breeding programs. Integral evaluation of this feral material revealed high colony strength and resistance/tolerance to brood diseases. However, these Africanized honeybees (AHB) also showed variable negative behavioral traits for beekeeping, such as defensiveness, tendency to swarm and avoidance behavior.

Dna forensic data bank, facts and perception: The Italian experience.

In 2016 the Italian National Dna database for forensic purposes finally went live. After seven years of "operational life", numbers and results are still scarce. The aim of the study is to evaluate the actual knowledge and perceived usefulness of this investigative tool among a significant sample of Italian magistrates.

Spontaneous supra-modal encoding of number in the infant brain.

The core knowledge hypothesis postulates that infants automatically analyze their environment along abstract dimensions, including numbers. According to this view, approximate numbers should be encoded quickly, pre-attentively, and in a supra-modal manner by the infant brain. Here, we directly tested this idea by submitting the neural responses of sleeping 3-month-old infants, measured with high-density electroencephalography (EEG), to decoders designed to disentangle numerical and non-numerical information.

Association of appropriateness for ICU admission with resource use, organ support and long-term survival in critically ill cancer patients.

We aimed to evaluate the characteristics, resource use and outcomes of critically ill patients with cancer according to appropriateness of ICU admission. This was a retrospective cohort study of patients with cancer admitted to ICU from January 2017 to December 2018. Patients were classified as appropriate, potentially inappropriate, or inappropriate for ICU admission according to the Society of Critical Care Medicine guidelines.

Automated Pipeline for Infants Continuous EEG (APICE): A flexible pipeline for developmental cognitive studies.

Infant electroencephalography (EEG) presents several challenges compared with adult data: recordings are typically short and heavily contaminated by motion artifacts, and the signal changes throughout development. Traditional data preprocessing pipelines, developed mainly for event-related potential analyses, require manual steps. However, larger datasets make this strategy infeasible.
