Objectives: To investigate a comprehensive geriatric assessment (CGA) with subsequent investigation of healthcare patterns in older patients with urological cancers undergoing initial surgery or radiotherapy, to verify the usefulness of the incorporation of geriatric principles in future care plans.

Material And Methods: This is a prospective cohort study. From November 2011 to March 2015, CGA was offered to all patients aged 70+ years treated with radiotherapy or surgery at seven tertiary centers.

The leather industry (tanneries) generates high amounts of toxic wastes, including solid and liquid effluents that are rich in organic matter and mineral content. Vermicomposting was studied as an alternative method of treating the wastes from tanneries. Vermicompost was produced from the following tannery residues: tanned chips of wet-blue leather, sludge from a liquid residue treatment station, and a mixture of both.

We evaluated growth factor contents and clinical efficacy of allogeneic platelet gel (PG) prepared with standard blood banking procedures from routine platelet concentrates (PCs) obtained from buffy coats. The PGs were used to treat 11 hypomobile very elderly patients unable to undergo autologous blood processing and previously ineffectively treated with expensive advanced medications for 8-275 weeks. PGs were prepared by platelet activation with human thrombin or commercial batroxobin.
