This study aimed to evaluate the benefits of microalbuminuria in preventing kidney damage in systemic lupus erythemathosus. This was a prospective study of 6 months has focused on 25 patients of both sexes aged over 14 with SLE whose diagnosis was based on the criteria of the American College of Rheumatology, having a negative proteinuria at the dipstick (Ketodiastix(®)) and a balance sheet normal renal (creatinine and uraemia normal). Each month, samples of venous blood were achieved at the elbow in patients fasted for the night (12pm).

In the present study, homocysteine (Hcy) and vitamin B status were determined in healthy subjects living in two opposite regions of the Ivory Coast. Fifty-six subjects from a coastal region (Bodou) having a fish-based diet and 56 subjects from a mountainous area (Glanle) having a vegetarian diet were tested to sample Hcy, folate, vitamin B12, creatinine, and lipid levels, as well as inflammation and nutritional parameters. An increased prevalence of Hcy > or = 15 micromol/L was observed, reaching 60 % of all subjects.

We conducted a 24 month prospective study in 30 patients clinically asymptomatic, infected by the VIH1, with a rate of CD4 above 200/mm3, and naive of any antiretroviral treatment.
