ITK, predominantly expressed on T cells and myeloid cells, is a member of the Tec nonreceptor tyrosine kinase family. Both human ITK and mouse Itk genomic clones were isolated to assign the chromosome location. The human ITK gene was mapped to chromosome band 5q34 and the mouse gene to chromosome 15 by fluorescence in situ hybridization.

Camostat mesilate, a developed derivative of gabexate mesilate for oral use, was administered in a daily dose of 600 mg for 4 weeks to 17 patients with heavy proteinuria due to various nephropathies. Five patients had glomerulonephritis (3 patients with IgA nephropathy, one each with membranoproliferative GN and membranous nephropathy) and 3 had systemic vasculitis. These patients had been treated with glucocorticoid, cyclophosphamide, anticoagulants, and dipyridamole.

We investigated whether captopril, an angiotensin-converting-enzyme inhibitor, would reduce proteinuria in patients with advanced diabetic nephropathy. Captopril (37.5 mg given in divided doses three times daily) was administered to 10 azotemic diabetics with heavy proteinuria.
