Efficacy of Imiquimod 3.75% for the treatment of extensive Bowen's disease of the face in an elderly patient.

Bowen's disease is a cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) in situ with a potential risk of progression to invasive SCC. Despite the high number of approved treatments, elderly patients with extensive lesions of critical sites may represent a therapeutical challenge, especially in cases of treatment failure or recalcitrant disease. Here, we report the successfully use of topical Imiquimod 3.

Digital myxoid cysts: 12-year experience from two Italian Dermatology Units.

Background: Digital mucous cysts (DMCs) are benign, translucent, fluid-filled asymptomatic, slow-growing, dome-shaped nodules overlying a joint or tendon sheath on the distal dorsal side of the fingers or, more rarely, on the toes. [A serious complication due to liquid silicone injection in the legs for cosmetic purpose].

Liquid injectable silicone has been used to increase volume in determined cutaneous districts, particularly in aesthetical reconstructive surgery. Although considered biologically inert for a long time this substance produced various complications as granulomatous foreign body reaction (siliconomas), secondary limphedema, tissue destruction and lethal embolism.
