Diffuse blastoid B-cell lymphoma: a histologically aggressive variant of t(14;18)-negative follicular lymphoma.

Among the diffuse lymphomas of B-cell origin, we have encountered one variant displaying blastoid features that morphologically mimic lymphoblastic lymphoma, the blastoid variant of mantle cell lymphoma, and the so-called blastoid transformation of follicular lymphoma. To better characterize this entity, we studied eight cases morphologically, immunohistochemically, and by fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) for cytogenetic abnormalities commonly associated with follicular lymphoma and B-cell lymphomas exhibiting high-grade histological features. All eight cases were presented as de novo neoplasms, and displayed an entirely diffuse (five cases) or only minimal follicular (three cases) growth pattern.

Personal and occupational exposure to organic solvents and risk of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL) in women (United States).

Objectives: The authors assessed whether home and occupational exposure to organic solvents is associated with risk of NHL in women.

Methods: A population-based, incidence case-control study was conducted in upstate New York, involving 376 NHL cases and 463 population controls selected from the Medicare beneficiary files and State driver's license records. Exposure information was obtained by telephone interview.

Pesticide product use and risk of non-Hodgkin lymphoma in women.

A population-based, incidence case-control study was conducted among women in upstate New York to determine whether pesticide exposure is associated with an increase in risk of non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) among women. The study involved 376 cases of NHL identified through the State Cancer Registry and 463 controls selected from the Medicare beneficiary files and state driver's license records. Information about history of farm work, history of other jobs associated with pesticide exposure, use of common household pesticide products, and potential confounding variables was obtained by telephone interview.

Nodal and extranodal tumor-forming accumulation of plasmacytoid monocytes/interferon-producing cells associated with myeloid disorders.

Nodal tumor-forming accumulations of plasmacytoid monocytes/interferon-producing cells (PMs/IPCs) have been described in patients with myeloproliferative disorders. Here we report a series of 9 additional cases of such association. The patients were predominantly adult (median, 62 years), males (male/female ratio, 7:2), who presented with chronic myelomonocytic leukemia (4 cases), acute myeloid leukemia (1), acute monocytic leukemia (2), unclassifiable chronic myeloproliferative (1), or myeloproliferative/myelodysplastic disease (1).

Eosinophil-rich CD30+ lymphoproliferative disorder of the oral mucosa. A form of "traumatic eosinophilic granuloma".

We describe 3 patients who had oral mucosal lesions with features of traumatic eosinophilic granuloma (TEG) and containing CD30+ atypical cells. In 1 patient, the oral lesion was followed by skin nodules. All lesions were evaluated histologically, by immunohistochemical analysis, and by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) analysis of the T-cell receptor (TCR) gamma chain gene.
