Hydiphen--hydrazide of diphenylphosphinylacetic acid--is a new Soviet tranquilizer having an original spectrum of psychotropic activity. It depresses an aroused emotional state of fear-anxiety, decreases the state of conflict in group interaction. It produces neither myorelaxation nor increase in positive emotions.

Gidifen (diphenylphosphinylacetic acid hydrazide) is an original Soviet tranquilizer. In doses of 120--150 mg/kg it restores central baroreflex regulation of the arterial pressure supressed during acute emotional-stress reaction in cats (confrontation with a dog). The drug has an antihypertensive action and reduces tachycardia caused by the emotional stress.
