This study investigates the intricate dynamics underlying lipase performance in organic solvents using comprehensive molecular dynamics (MD) simulations, supported by enzyme kinetics data. The study reveals that a single criterion can neither predict nor explain lipase activity in organic solvents, indicating the need for a comprehensive approach. Three lipases were included in this study: lipase B (CALB), lipase (RML), and lipase (TLL).

Background: While just-in-time (JIT) training is associated with time and cost savings, limited evidence directly compares layperson CPR performance using JIT videos to in-person CPR courses. We measured layperson CPR performance using a JIT video compared to an in-person course or no training.

Background: Guidelines recommend using high-sensitivity troponin T (hsTnT) and N-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) to risk stratify hemodynamically stable patients with acute pulmonary embolism (PE). However, there are no evidence-based cutoff values defined for this clinical application.

Objectives: Gestational diabetes is diagnosed using an oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT), which has limited accuracy, reproducibility and practicality. We assessed the effect of enhanced pre-analytical glucose processing upon glucose concentrations, gestational diabetes diagnosis, health equity and pregnancy outcomes, and if HbA1c was a suitable alternative.

Methods: We recruited pregnant women with ≥1 risk factor to a prospective observational cohort study of pregnancy hyperglycaemia, endocrine causes, lipids, insulin and autoimmunity (OPHELIA), from nine UK centres.
