The anticipated organ donation approach aims to increase access to donor organs in France. It concerns patients with neurological injuries in a serious condition, for whom there are no treatment options, but who could be suitable for organ procurement if their condition were to evolve towards brain death. This approach requires meticulous preparation, fulfilment of the required conditions and close support for the family.

The analyses illustrated in this manuscript have been performed in order to provide the required data for the amplitude-and-phase calibration of the D-dot voltage probes used in the ITER-like antenna at the Joint European Torus tokamak. Their equivalent electrical circuit has been extracted and analyzed, and it has been compared to the one of voltage probes installed in simple transmission lines. A radio-frequency calibration technique has been formulated and exact mathematical relations have been derived.

Article Synopsis
  • The University of Florida created a mixed reality simulator that combines physical elements and 3-D virtual components to train neurosurgical residents in performing ventriculostomy procedures.
  • Over 260 residents were tested using an algorithm that evaluated their performance based on time and accuracy, along with feedback from post-performance surveys.
  • Results showed experienced residents performed better, and most participants agreed that simulator practice would benefit their future procedures, leading to the implementation of a training standard for incoming residents.
