The purpose of this study was to determine the prevalence and characteristics of the cisterna chyli (CC) in a large 3,000-patient cohort and to identify potential predisposing factors for the development of a CC. Three thousand consecutive contrast-enhanced CT examinations (1,261 women, 1,739 men, mean age 61.0 years) of the chest and/or abdomen were included in this retrospective study.

This prospective longitudinal 3-year study compared clinical parameters and implant success rates of removable superstructures supported by both teeth and implants in patients with treated generalized aggressive periodontitis (GAP) and of cemented, implant-retained fixed superstructures in periodontally healthy patients. A total of 17 partially edentulous patients with 54 implants took part in the study. Nine patients with treated GAP received removable superstructures according to the Marburg double crown system, and eight periodontally healthy patients received fixed superstructures.

Objective: To improve the discrimination between neoplastic and functional cysts of the ovary in order to avoid superfluous surgery.

Study Design: Clinical examination, including ultrasound and laparoscopy, was performed on 347 women admitted to the hospital with ovarian cysts. In addition, we evaluated the contents of the cysts cytologically as well as by determining the estradiol level in the fluid via radioimmunoassay.

The granular cell tumor (GCT) represents a rare but important lesion in the differential diagnosis of breast tumors. Since this generally benign tumor may be misdiagnosed as malignant in clinical investigation, mammography, sonography, and even in frozen sections, a preoperative diagnosis is of utmost importance. Two cases illustrate that fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) may be the method of choice in achieving a correct preoperative diagnosis.
