Influence of the GPX1 gene polymorphism to aerobic capacity and efficiency of glutathione supplementation in athletes.

The aim was to investigate compare genotype and allele frequencies of the GPX1 gene Pro198Leu polymorphism in 736 Russian athletes and 564 non-athletic controls. Echocardiography was performed by ultrasound scanner Nemio MX (Toshiba, Japan). Also, we investigated whether glutathione had antioxidant effects in runners.

[Influence of the MTHFR gene C677T polymorphism with physical performance and function of cardiovascular system in athletes].

The aim of the was to investigate the interrelation between MTHFR gene C677T polymorphism and morphometric echocardiography and physiologic parameters in male ski racers (n = 23). Genotyping was performed by RFLP. Echocardiography was performed by ultrasound scanner Nemio MX (Toshiba, Japan).

[Small-cell rectal carcinoma coexisted with tubular-villous adenoma].

The paper describes a case of small-cell high-grade endocrine carcinoma of the rectum concurrent with tubular-villous adenoma in a 58 year-old woman. All epithelial cells of adenoma have been ascertained to be "mixed" exoendocrine endocrinocytes (secrete mucus and contain neuroendocrine granules), contain progesterone receptors, and express CK 8, 18, and 19. Some high-grade neuroendocrine carcinoma cells also secrete mucus.
