Background: Despite Brazil's recent social progress, access to health services is still unequal. This article analyzes the inter-municipal distances traveled by pregnant women to access delivery services, documenting their magnitude and relationship to socioeconomic and risk factors for over a decade in Brazil.
Methods: Using data between 2007 and 2017 from the Brazilian Information System of Live Births and a matrix of inter-municipal distances, we describe the evolution of (i) the share of pregnant women that traveled across municipalities and (ii) the average distance they traveled.
Background: The learning curve for new operators performing ultrasound-guided transfemoral access (TFA) remains uncertain.
Methods: We performed a pooled analysis of the FAUST (Femoral Arterial Access With Ultrasound Trial) and UNIVERSAL (Routine Ultrasound Guidance for Vascular Access for Cardiac Procedures) trials, both multicenter randomized controlled trials of 1:1 ultrasound-guided versus non-ultrasound-guided TFA for coronary procedures. Outcomes included the composite of major bleeding or vascular complications and successful common femoral artery cannulation.

A new species of Eigenmannia is described from the Rio Branco basin, Roraima, Brazil, based on morphological and molecular datasets. It is distinguished from all congeners by the following combination of characters: lateral line stripe extending from first perforated lateral line scale to distal portion of caudal filament, presence of superior midlateral stripe with origin posterior to end of body cavity anal-fin hyaline, caudal filament corresponding to 15.2%-43.

Background: Risk stratification is an important step in perioperative evaluation. However, the main risk scores do not incorporate biomarkers in their set of variables.
Objective: Evaluate the incremental power of troponin to the usual risk stratification.
(1) Recombinant protein production in mammalian cells is either based on transient transfection processes, often inefficient and underlying high batch-to-batch variability, or on laborious generation of stable cell lines. Alternatively, BacMam, a transduction process using the baculovirus, can be employed. (2) Six transfecting agents were compared to baculovirus transduction in terms of transient and stable protein expression characteristics of the model protein ACE2-eGFP using HEK293-6E, CHO-K1, and Vero cell lines.
