Investigation of the Clinical and Diagnostic Aspects of Peste des Petits Ruminants (PPR) in Sheep from the Southern Region of Iraq.

In the southern region of Iraq, Peste des petits ruminants (PPR) has been identified and diagnosed. The study was done on (300) local sheep breeds of varying ages and sexes exhibiting PPR symptoms, while (25), healthy sheep breeds served as the control group. Additionally, the diagnosis of PPRV was confirmed by PCR.

Surgery for gastrointestinal metastases of malignant melanoma - a retrospective exploratory study.

Background: Cutaneous melanoma has a rapidly increasing incidence in Sweden, and it has more than doubled in the last two decades. In recent years, new systemic treatments for patients with metastatic disease have increased overall survival. The role of surgery in the metastatic setting has been unclear, and no randomized data exist.

Studying The Sensitivity Of Coronary Blood Flow Using Nondimensional Analysis.

Nondimensional analysis was used to develop a novel model of coronary blood flow. In addition to general hemodynamics, the model was used to study the sensitivity of the arterial flow to variations in characteristic lumped parameters. Experimental hemodynamic data obtained from four normal healthy pigs were used in the current study.

Quantum chemical assessment of benzimidazole derivatives as corrosion inhibitors.

Background: The majority of well-known inhibitors are organic compounds containing multiple bonds and heteroatoms, such as O, N or S, which allow adsorption onto the metal surface. These compounds can adsorb onto the metal surface and block active surface sites, reducing the rate of corrosion.

Results: A comparative theoretical study of three benzimidazole isomers, benzimidazole (BI), 2-methylbenzimidazole (2-CH3-BI), and 2-mercaptobenzimidazole (2-SH-BI), as corrosion inhibitors was performed using density functional theory (DFT) with the B3LYP functional basis set.

Cerebral metabolic alterations and cognitive dysfunction in chronic kidney disease.

Background: The diagnosis of uraemic encephalopathy is considered if patients with end-stage renal disease present with neuropsychiatric symptoms. However, cognitive deficits may occur in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) long before any overt neurological symptoms can be observed. We hypothesized that cognitive dysfunction in patients with CKD both, treated and untreated by haemodialysis, may correspond to metabolic changes in distinct brain regions.
