Evidence that transverse variability of critical current density can greatly mitigate screening current stress in high field REBCO magnets.

Plastic damage of REBCO (REBaCuO, where RE=rare earth) coated conductors by screening current stress (SCS) is a significant concern for ultra-high-field superconducting magnets. Indeed, the third Little Big Coil (LBC3), a REBCO magnet that generated a record, high field of 45.5 T, showed wavy plastic damage produced by excess SCS in all pancakes except two made with single-slit conductors having their slit edges pointing inward towards the magnet center.

Identification of Virulence Genes Associated with Pathogenicity of Translocating with Special Reference to the Type 6 Secretion System.

Recent genomic characterisation of translocating HMLN-1 isolated from mesenteric lymph nodes (MLNs) and blood of a patient with a fatal case of pancreatitis revealed the presence of a type 6 secretion system (T6SS) that was not present in non-translocating strains. The gastrointestinal tract's microbiota plays a crucial role in human health, with dysbiosis linked to the development of diseases such as inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Whilst the pathogenic mechanisms underlying IBD remain poorly characterised, adherent-invasive (AIEC) has been implicated as a microbiological factor in disease pathogenesis. These strains show an enhanced ability to diffusely adhere to and invade intestinal epithelial cells, along with the ability to survive and replicate within macrophages.

HIV in MOTION: a community of practice on physical rehabilitation for and by people living with HIV and their allies.

Background: This paper describes the design, implementation, and evaluation of a community of practice (CoP), HIV in MOTION (HIM), to advance physical activity rehabilitation interventions with adults living with HIV, clinicians, researchers, and representatives from community-based organizations. We attracted a diverse audience of geographically dispersed people living with HIV, clinicians, exercise personnel, and trainees to eight HIM community of practice events that featured the clinical, research, and lived experience of people living with HIV. HIV in MOTION had (a) a domain related to physical rehabilitation, exercise, and social participation for people living with HIV; (b) a community of diverse individuals; and (c) a practice, that is, a series of sustained interactions online and offline, synchronous, and asynchronous.

Chemistry-Informed Machine Learning for Polymer Electrolyte Discovery.

Solid polymer electrolytes (SPEs) have the potential to improve lithium-ion batteries by enhancing safety and enabling higher energy densities. However, SPEs suffer from significantly lower ionic conductivity than liquid and solid ceramic electrolytes, limiting their adoption in functional batteries. To facilitate more rapid discovery of high ionic conductivity SPEs, we developed a chemistry-informed machine learning model that accurately predicts ionic conductivity of SPEs.
