Preoperative Oral Feeding in Infants with Congenital Heart Disease Within the First Month of Life is Associated with a Higher Likelihood of Freedom From Tube Feeding at Time of Postoperative Discharge.

Though several studies have demonstrated that preoperative oral feeding (PO) can be safe in patients with congenital heart disease, they are commonly prohibited from doing so, potentially precluding the development of such skills. We sought to determine whether preoperative oral feeding is associated with freedom from tube feeding at postoperative discharge. Single-center, observational study including patients in the first month of life (≤ 30 days of age) who underwent a single cardiac surgery between 7/1/2017-6/30/2022 and survived to discharge.

Special Issue on Informatics Education A Longitudinal Graduate Medical Education Curriculum in Clinical Informatics: Function, Structure, and Evaluation.

Background: There is a need to integrate informatics education into medical training programs given the rise in demand for health informaticians and the call on the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and the body of undergraduate medical education (UGME) for implementation of informatics curricula.

Objectives: This report outlines a 2-year longitudinal informatics curriculum now currently in its seventh year of implementation. This report is intended to inform United States (US) Graduate Medical Education (GME) program leaders of the necessary requirements for implementation of a similar program at their institution.

However, the molecular mechanisms underpinning the genetic interaction and how they contribute to overall hybrid incompatibilities are limited to only a handful of examples. A vertebrate model organism, , is used to study hybrid dysfunction and it has been shown from this model that diseases, such as melanoma, can occur in certain interspecies hybrids.
