Introduction: The research aim was to determine the role of clinical, laboratory, immunological and sonographic parameters in the development of an assessment tool for the symptomatic manifestations of prostate calcifications in chronic prostatitis/chronic pelvic pain syndrome (CP/CPPS).

Material And Methods: All men underwent a transabdominal ultrasonographic examination using a grayscale B-mode and color Doppler mapping, the evaluation of the National Institutes of Health-Chronic Prostatitis Symptom Index and the Patient Health Questionnaire-9, spermogram. Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), serotonin and gamma-aminobutyrate (GABA), interleukins 1β and 10 were determined in blood serum and ejaculate.

Introduction: We hypothesized that the history of antibiotic efficacy was related to the outcome of the treatment of patients with chronic prostatitis/chronic pelvic pain syndrome (CP/CPPS) and evaluated this as a phenotyping factor for such patients.

Material And Methods: This prospective study included 74 patients with CP/CPPS aged 18-45 years old, who had at least 10 points on the National Institutes of Health-Chronic Prostatitis Symptom Index (NIH-CPSI) scale and did not receive treatment for CP/CPPS for the last 3 months. There were 5 visits.

Introduction: Chronic prostatitis/chronic pelvic pain syndrome (CP/CPPS) is a complex medical problem. Comorbid depression and chronic pain are highly prevalent in individuals suffering with chronic abacterial prostatitis (CAP) perhaps due to the direct or indirect effects of cytokines. Cytokines interact with the neuronal environment, and thus modulation of the duration of inflammation may alleviate depressive and pain symptoms.

The peculiarities of cytokines as compounds of immunogenesis are shown in the patients having acute (A) and chronic (Ch) pyelonephritis (PN). The combination of antibacterial therapy with Nukleinat and Galavit promotes the positive changes of cytokin-producing ability of immunocompetent cells and decrease in the level of proinflammation cytokines in blood and urine, secretory leucocyte protease inhibitor (SLPI) in urine. In children with PN and adult patients with diagnostically elevated titres of antibodies (IgG) to Herpes simplex virus, Cytomegalovirus are shown the positive effects of Kanephron® H and Proteflazidum, accordingly.

The antiinflammatory cytokines participate in antiinfective immunity, that is why it is advisable to study their peculiarities in determination of the role in immunologic pathogenesis of pyelonephritis. Of the work is to study the levels of pro-inflammatory blood cytokines in the patients with pyelonephritis (PN), to determine the peculiarities in acute and chronic its course in children and adults. The immuno-enzymic method ELISA and the corresponding test-systems were used to study the levels of cytokines in blood.
