[Frequency of genetic diseases and cancer antecedents in 493 adults with visceral or soft tissue sarcomas].

Little is known about epidemiology of adults soft tissue and visceral sarcomas (ASTS). The frequency of previous cancers and associated genetic diseases has been analyzed out of 493 ASTS, treated between 1997 and 2002 at Oscar Lambret Cancer Center. Median age is 51, sex ratio is close to 1.

Context: Among the several therapeutic weapons against cancer, surgical oncology has always been a major, and remains, up today. But in that field, outcomes are heavily dependent on the way the surgery is conducted.

Objectives: The National Federation of Cancer Centers, in accordance with all French cancer specialists, tried to define the adequate conditions allowing the best practices for surgical oncology.

[Definitions of target volumes in soft tissue sarcomas of the extremities].

Soft tissue sarcomas of the extremities are currently treated with more conservative and functional approaches, combining surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy. The role of external beam radiotherapy and brachytherapy has been defined through randomised studies performed in the 80's and 90's. However, the ubiquity of tumour location for these tumours makes difficult a systematic definition of local treatments.

[Unusual development of nonseminomatous germ cell tumors of the testis (NSGCT)].

The authors describe a clinical case of metastatic testicular non-seminomatous germinal tumor with several recurrences treated by the association of chemotherapy and surgery for remaining lesions. Based on this case a review of the literature is done to illustrate the evolution of treatments, to highlight the evolutive potential of mature teratoma, the delayed recurrences.
