Objective: To evaluate the association between the severity of dementia and taste recognition abilities in older persons with Alzheimer's disease (AD).

Methods: Anthropometric measurements were performed and body mass index was used to determine the nutritional status. The taste strips were used to test gustatory functions of the five basic tastes (sweet, salty, sour, bitter and umami).

Aim: Aim of the study is to investigate the modulations of oxidative stress biomarkers and some antioxidants induced by high intensity interval training bout and its relation to swimming performance.

Methods: Ten swimmers performed a set of 8 maximal swims along 100 m by style of their specialty, with 10 minute for a rest. The concentration of blood lactate ([Lac]) was determined after each swim.

A panel of autologous cytolytic T lymphocyte (CTL) clones have been isolated from blood lymphocytes of a melanoma patient after in vitro stimulation with autologous tumor cells. We previously reported the molecular definition of three distinct antigens recognized by some of these CTL clones. We describe here, the identification of a fourth antigenic peptide expressed by this melanoma line and recognized by a CTL clone restricted by HLA-B*3503.

CD8 T lymphocytes recognize peptides of 8 to 10 amino acids presented by class I molecules of the major histocompatibility complex. Here, CD8 T lymphocytes were found to recognize a nonameric peptide on melanoma cells that comprises two noncontiguous segments of melanocytic glycoprotein gp100(PMEL17). The production of this peptide involves the excision of four amino acids and splicing of the fragments.

Melanoma line LG2-MEL expresses several antigens recognized by autologous CTLs. One of them consists of a peptide derived from tyrosinase and presented by HLA-B*3503. We have identified another antigen of LG2-MEL as a peptide presented by HLA-B*4403 and resulting from a point mutation in gene OS-9.
