Article Synopsis
  • The study explored how postural balance is influenced by autonomic nervous system signals, specifically cardiac awareness.
  • Researchers tested 70 healthy individuals using a robotic device to measure postural control and a heartbeat counting task for cardiac awareness, under different platform and visual feedback conditions.
  • Results showed that in unstable conditions with eyes closed, those with higher cardiac awareness had less sway and reduced trunk movement, indicating that better perception of internal body signals may enhance postural control.
