A comparative study of 70% glycolic acid and 30% trichloroacetic acid peel in the treatment of facial atrophic acne scars: A split-face study.

Objectives: Medium-depth peels are dynamic tools when used as part of office procedures for the treatment of acne scars. Most of the available literature on chemical peels focuses on their role in skin rejuvenation and hyperpigmentation. There is a paucity of well-conducted studies that have compared peels in the treatment of acne scars in Asian patients.

Cosmetic iris implants - double edge sword.

Iris implants were originally described as an option to treat photophobia and glare associated with aniridia, coloboma, corectopia or any other causes of acquired or congenital iris defects. They are not designed to be used in healthy phakic eyes and not approved by regulatory bodies anywhere in the world for cosmesis. However, widespread publicity and the compulsive need for beautification has popularised the use of these implants illicitly.

The impact of particular safety behaviours on perceived likeability and authenticity during interpersonal interactions in social anxiety disorder.

Background: Safety behaviours are hypothesized to play a vital role in maintaining social anxiety disorder (SAD), in part by orienting socially anxious individuals to adopt an avoidance-based mindset focused on self-protection and self-concealment. Evidence suggests an association between safety behaviour use and negative social outcomes for individuals with SAD. However, research has largely focused on the broad group of safety behaviours, whereas specific subtypes have received less attention.

Central macular thickness change after uneventful small-incision cataract surgery - An observational study.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to diagnose CME with the help of optical coherence tomography (OCT) after uneventful cataract surgery to prevent visual deterioration.

Methods: This study was conducted on 120 patients, who underwent manual small-incision cataract surgery with posterior chamber intra-ocular lens implantation. Follow-up was performed after the first week, sixth week, and 12 week post-operatively.

A cross-sectional study to find association of VDR gene polymorphism with non-syndromic congenital ichthyosis and with vitamin D deficiency.

Though development of vitamin D deficiency and rickets in patients with congenital ichthyosis (CI) have recently been observed, yet exact cause of such association is not properly understood. To evaluate association between Vitamin D Receptor (VDR) polymorphism and CI, and to identify risk factors responsible for development of vitamin D deficiency in ichthyosis. In this cross-sectional study, detailed history of patients and controls was noted and certain biochemical investigations were made.
