Identifying coastal tracts suitable for sea turtle reproduction is crucial for sea turtle conservation in a context of fast coastal development and climate change. In contrast to nesting aggregations, diffuse nesting is elusive and assessing nesting levels is challenging. A total of 323 nesting events by the loggerhead sea turtle have been reported in Sicily, the largest Mediterranean island, in the 1944-2021 period, mostly in the last decade.

Objectives: To assess the frequency of choledocolithiasis and the role of preoperative laboratory findings, ultrasound (US) and magnetic resonance cholangio-pancreatography (MRCP) in the detection of choledocolithiasis in patients with gallbladder stones awaiting cholecystectomy.

Methods: A consecutive sample of 104 patients underwent MRCP prior to cholecystectomy. The patients were classified into different groups on the basis of the risk of choledocolithiasis.

We report the case of an ectopic pituitary adenoma in a 65-year-old man with an empty sella who initially presented with right ptosis and eyelid edema and headache. Neuroimaging studies revealed a large tumoral process at the height of the clivus, with partial destruction of surrounding bone structure. He underwent transphenoidal surgery and histopathologic examination, including immunohistochemical studies, revealed a prolactin-producing pituitary adenoma.
