Persistent hypoglycemia in congenital syphilis: hyperinsulinemic hypoglycemia with a focal pancreatic lesion.

Objectives: Congenital syphilis can cause severe morbidities such as hydrops fetalis, preterm birth, low birth weight, hepatosplenomegaly, pneumonia, hypoglycemia, etc., and mortality. Despite hypoglycemia being reported in congenital syphilis and hyperinsulinism, only one case was described.

Objective: The objective of this study was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of isotonic and hypotonic intravenous fluids in maintenance fluid therapy for term infants.

Methods: This was a multi-centre, prospective, observational study conducted in 21 participating centres from December 30, 2020, to June 30, 2023. The study included term newborns requiring parenteral fluid therapy for maintenance (NCT04781361).

Predictive Power of Self-Efficacy on the Fear of Childbirth in Pregnant Women: Underlying Mechanisms of Social Support as a Mediator and the COVID-19 Fear as a Moderator.

Background: Fear of childbirth (FOC) is a common problem associated with psycho-social factors in pregnant women.

Objectives: This study aimed to determine the mediator of social support and the moderator role of fear of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in the relationship between self-efficacy and FOC in pregnant women.

Materials And Methods: This descriptive and cross-sectional study was conducted with 422 pregnant women registered in 18 family health centers.

The chemical and electrochemical stimuli viologen substituted phthalocyanine with tunable optical features1.

In this study, viologen-tetrasubstituted Zn(II) phthalocyanines ( and ) were designed and synthesized to achieve the tunable optical features via redox-active viologen groups. Several parameters relevant to the evaluation of the tunable optical features have been investigated: UV-Vis, cyclic voltammetry (CV), EPR, square wave voltammetry (SWV), and theoretical analyses. The results showed that upon reductions and oxidations of viologen groups either chemically or electrochemically, the optical features of and change drastically with switchable processes.
