Aquagenic wrinkling of the palms in a cohort of Greek children diagnosed with cystic fibrosis: Associated clinical parameters.

Background: Aquagenic wrinkling of the palms (AWP) is an excessive and early palmar wrinkling occurring after brief immersion to water (BIW), and has been reported as a frequent finding among Cystic Fibrosis (CF) patients.

Objectives: To investigate any associations of CF patients presenting AWP with other disease characteristics and explore the pathomechanism of AWP phenomenon.

Methods: We evaluated AWP in CF patients and assessed the AWP parameters of palmar wrinkling, oedema, papules, pruritus and pain at 3, 7 and 11 min after a BIW test with other disease characteristics.

Earthquake nowcasting (EN) is a modern method of estimating seismic risk by evaluating the progress of the earthquake (EQ) cycle in fault systems. EN evaluation is based on a new concept of time, termed 'natural time'. EN employs natural time, and uniquely estimates seismic risk by means of the earthquake potential score (EPS), which has been found to have useful applications both regionally and globally.

Background: There is evidence that stress and psoriasis interact bidirectionally. Specifically, stress is not only induced by psoriasis, but it is also considered a precipitating factor for onset or exacerbation of the disease. Neuroendocrine alterations of the stress system have been implicated in this association.

Perceived Changes in Emotions, Worries and Everyday Behaviors in Children and Adolescents Aged 5-18 Years with Type 1 Diabetes during the COVID-19 Pandemic.

The COVID-19 pandemic and the consequent restrictive measures may be related to increased stress and anxiety and to changes in daily behaviors. Children with type 1 diabetes (T1D) are a vulnerable group due to their difficulties in achieving glycemic control and to their medical and psychological comorbidities. The purpose of the current study was to the investigate the changes on emotional and behavioral parameters in children with T1D due to the Coronavirus crisis.

Do Children and Adolescents with Overweight or Obesity Adhere to the National Food-Based Dietary Guidelines in Greece?

Childhood obesity increases the risk for metabolic disorders, but is also related to nutritional deficiencies, such as anemia and hypovitaminosis D. Although children/adolescents with overweight/obesity may have higher energy intake, their diet quality and diversity may be low. The present study aimed to evaluate the consumption of foods against the national food-based dietary guidelines in children and adolescents with overweight or obesity in Greece.
