Recurrence After Microsurgical Excision of Third Ventricular Colloid Cysts in a Contemporary Cohort of 84 Patients.

Objective: To examine recurrence rates in patients undergoing microsurgical excision of colloid cysts of the third ventricle with long-term serial clinical and imaging follow-up and to identify risk factors for cyst recurrence.

Methods: In this retrospective study, we analyzed a single-surgeon cohort of 84 patients who underwent microsurgical excision of a third ventricular colloid cyst between 1994 and 2018 and who were followed for at least 12 months after surgery. The primary outcome of interest was recurrence (asymptomatic and symptomatic).

Primary CNS Melanoma of Meckel's Cave: A Rare Case with Literature Review.

Meckel's cave is a dural recess in the posteromedial portion of the middle cranial fossa, serving as a conduit for the trigeminal nerve and hosting various pathologies. The radiological diagnosis of Meckel's cave pathologies is often challenging, especially when they are atypical and rarely encountered. Here, we discuss the case of a 41-year-old woman who presented with right hemifacial pain, numbness, and binocular diplopia.

Practical approaches to diagnosing PitNETs/adenomas based on cell lineage.

The evolution of classification systems of pituitary adenomas (now PitNETs) has culminated in the use of transcription factor (TF) immunohistochemistry (IHC), forming a cell lineage-based system. However, several issues remain to be addressed, including the additional financial and logistic burden of undertaking the complete array of anterior pituitary hormones and TF IHC. To that end, several groups have suggested algorithms to minimise the number of tests performed, with varying levels of diagnostic accuracy.

Neurobrucellosis presenting as an infected cerebellopontine cistern epidermoid cyst.

Neurobrucellosis is a rare complication of brucella infection which presents as meningitis, meningoencephalitis, subdural empyema, brain abscess, myelitis, and radiculo- neuritis. We report the first case of neurobrucellosis presenting as an infected cerebellopontine cistern epidermoid cyst in a young immunocompetent male who presented with fever and acute raised intracranial pressure. MRI brain showed an extra-axial mass in the right cerebellopontine angle cistern with peripheral rim enhancement and diffusion restriction.

Impact of COVID-19 Medication (Favipiravir and Hydroxychloroquine) on High Frequency Hearing.

During the initial phase of the COVID-19 pandemic, there was ongoing investigation into potentially effective treatments. Antiviral medications such as Favipiravir and Hydroxychloroquine were employed to treat COVID-19 infections. However, limited studies have examined the adverse effects of these medications on hearing, particularly at extended high frequencies.
