Background: Pediatric growth hormone deficiency (GHD) is a disease resulting from the impaired growth hormone-insulin-like growth factor-1 (GH-IGF-1) axis, but the effects of GHD on children's behavior and brain microstructural structure alterations have not yet been fully clarified. We aimed to investigate the quantitative profiles of gray matter and white matter in pediatric GHD using synthetic magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).

Methods: The data of 50 children with GHD and 50 typically developing (TD) children were prospectively collected.

Introduction: While risk factor prevalence of individual risk factors for dementia varies between ethnic groups in New Zealand (NZ), it is not known whether the effect of these risks is the same in each group.

Methods: This retrospective cohort study identified incident cases of dementia. Cox regression models calculated the hazard ratio for dementia for each of the risk factors, after adjustment for age and sex.

Background: To our knowledge capture-recapture techniques have not been used to estimate dementia prevalence using routinely collected data in England, nor have they been used to estimate changes in undiagnosed dementia over time. In this study we aimed to use routinely collected electronic health records to estimate the number of undiagnosed dementia cases there are in England and how this has changed over time. We also aimed to assess whether proportion of undiagnosed cases differed by age group, ethnicity, socioeconomic deprivation and sex.

Mosaic Analysis with Double Markers (MADM) represents a mouse genetic approach coupling differential fluorescent labeling to genetic manipulations in dividing cells and their lineages. MADM uniquely enables the generation and visualization of individual control or homozygous mutant cells in a heterozygous genetic environment. Among its diverse applications, MADM has been used to dissect cell-autonomous gene functions important for cortical development and neural development in general.

Assessment and management of older people with cognitive impairment, especially those associated with psychiatric symptoms; are recognised as core capabilities of old age psychiatrists. Bi-national collections of HoNOS65+/HoNOS reveal that over 40% of older people entering public mental health services across Australia and New Zealand have a clinically significant rating on the HoNOS65+/HoNOS cognitive problem scale, with rates increasing with age, and significant regional variability. The high rates of cognitive impairment in these data reinforce the need for mental health clinicians working with older people to have the capability to assess people with cognitive impairment.
