Transient Colonic Intussusception Versus Colon Adenocarcinoma: A Case Report on Ultrasound Features in the Emergency Department.

Intussusception in adults is a rare pathology due to the telescoping of a bowel segment into a section adjacent to it. Almost all cases are linked to a pathological lead point, which is often a colorectal carcinoma where the intussusception involves the large intestine. Likely to occur in the same clinical setting, the differential diagnosis between intussusception and colon carcinoma by ultrasound in the emergency department can be quite challenging.

Giant danios (genus ), like zebrafish, are teleosts belonging to the danioninae subfamily of cyprinids. Adult giant danios are used in a variety of investigations aimed at understanding cellular and physiological processes, including heart regeneration. Despite their importance, little is known about development and growth in giant danios, or their cardiac and coronary vessels development.

Oral health knowledge, attitudes, and practices (KAP) in rural Haiti: a 40-year follow-up study.

This paper reports the changed findings over a 40-year period on oral health knowledge, attitudes, and practices (KAP) of a very remote and rural population living the Jeremie region of Haiti. The far-sighted investigators of that original 1970 survey stated in their published 1972 paper that our "…findings are descriptive, but have to be accepted tentatively rather than definitively because time was short, transportation was difficult, and the small sample that had to be used could not random." They further insightfully stated their hopes that their "…results may be regarded as an anthropological cultural baseline from which to review further findings concerning Haitian dental beliefs.

Lyme neuroborreliosis mimics stroke: a case report.

Lyme neuroborreliosis is diagnostically challenging because of its diverse manifestations. The well-documented neurologic spectrum includes lymphocytic meningitis, cranial neuropathy, and radiculoneuritis in the early disseminated stage; and peripheral neuropathy, chronic encephalomyelitis, and mild encephalopathy in the late persistent stage. This case report describes a 74-year-old man who developed progressive left hemiparesis and facial palsy.

AIDS--the leading cause of adult death in the West African City of Abidjan, Ivory Coast.

In 1988 to 1989, 698 adult cadavers in Abidjan's two largest morgues were studied, representing 38 to 43% of all adult deaths in the city over the study period, and 6 to 7% of annual deaths. Forty-one percent of male and 32% of female cadavers were infected with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). Fifteen percent of adult male and 13% of adult female annual deaths are due to acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS).
