Rare Variant of a Giant Compound Odontoma of the Maxilla: A Case Report.

Benign odontogenic tumors that produce features resembling teeth are known as compound odontomas. This case report describes a unique case of a compound odontoma presenting in the patient's maxillary, the front region. This example highlights how crucial it is to diagnose and treat odontomas as soon as possible in order to avoid possible consequences like tooth displacement or failed eruption.

Critical reflections on the concept and impact of "scaling up" in Global Mental Health.

The field of Global Mental Health (GMH) aims to address the global burden of mental illness by focusing on closing the "treatment gap" faced by many low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). To increase access to services, GMH prioritizes "scaling up" mental health services, primarily advocating for the export of Western centred and developed biomedical and psychosocial "evidence-based" approaches to the Global South. While this emphasis on scalability has resulted in the increased availability of mental health services in some LMICs, there have been few critical discussions of this strategy.

The Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has presented an unprecedented challenge globally. It is much bigger than a bio-medical concern now with the multitudes of socio-economic, socio-political, socio-cultural, and psycho-social impact, which are likely to outlast the pandemic itself by far and long. The pandemic and the resulting challenges across societies highlighted the existing social injustices in a neoliberal world for historically marginalized populations like homeless persons with mental illness (HPMI).

Is there still a role for bilobed/bipaddled pectoralis major myocutaneous flap for single-stage immediate reconstruction of post ablative oncologic full-thickness defects of the cheek?

Introduction: Reconstruction of full-thickness defects of the head and neck is a challenge. In this clinical study, we assessed the role of the bilobed/bipaddled pectoralis major myocutaneous flap (PMMF) for the reconstruction of large full-thickness defects of the cheek, after resection of oral cancer.

Materials And Method: After resection of oral cancer, 62 cases of through-and-through defects of the oral cavity were reconstructed using folded/bipaddled/bilobed PMMF flap.

Schwannoma of the tongue in a paediatric patient: a case report and 20-year review.

Schwannomas (Neurilemmomas) are benign, encapsulated, slow-growing, and usually solitary tumours originating from Schwann cells of the peripheral nerve sheath with uncertain etiology. Approximately 25-48% of cases are seen in the head and neck region, of which 1% appears in the oral cavity. Lingual schwannoma can affect all age groups with peak incidence between the third and sixth decade.
