This work focuses on the coupling of trimmed shell patches using Isogeometric Analysis, based on higher continuity splines that seamlessly meet the requirement of Kirchhoff-Love-based discretizations. Weak enforcement of coupling conditions is achieved through the symmetric interior penalty method, where the fluxes are computed using their correct variationally consistent expression that was only recently proposed and is unprecedentedly adopted herein in the context of coupling conditions. The constitutive relationship accounts for generically laminated materials, although the proposed tests are conducted under the assumption of uniform thickness and lamination sequence.

Tirzepatide is the first ever once-weekly, injectable gastric inhibitory peptide/glucagon-like peptide 1 (GIP/GLP-1) dual agonist approved by the European Medicines Agency for type 2 diabetes. The efficacy and safety of tirzepatide have been evaluated in five global, randomized, double-blind or open-label, phase 3 studies which enrolled over 7000 people living with type 2 diabetes, across various stages of disease and with different characteristics at baseline. In this short commentary we report the salient data of the most recent trials on tirzepatide and GLP-1 receptor agonists from a clinical point of view, with the aim of highlighting similarities and mutual differences.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aims to compare stent-related symptoms in patients with double J (DJ) stents who switch to pigtail suture stents (PSS) after ureteroscopy (URS), using the Ureteral Stent Symptom Questionnaire (USSQ).
  • A total of 93 patients were evaluated through USSQ at three different time points: after DJ, after switching to PSS, and after PSS removal, focusing on urinary symptom scores and pain levels.
  • Results showed significant improvements in urinary symptoms and reduced pain levels for patients after switching to PSS, suggesting that this option could better alleviate stent-related symptoms in patients post-URS.
