Article Synopsis
  • Firearm-related injuries (FRIs) are a significant public health issue, and this study aimed to analyze inpatient costs related to FRIs based on different insurance types and hospital safety-net levels.
  • The research included data from over 538,000 FRI cases between 2003 and 2020, revealing that the majority of injuries were among self-pay and Medicaid patients, with total adjusted costs reaching $15.2 billion.
  • Notably, Medicaid-related FRI costs skyrocketed by 127% over the observed period, indicating a worrying trend that disproportionately affects disadvantaged individuals and safety-net hospitals.

We prove some theorems on the existence and uniqueness of fixed point for Reich-type contraction mappings and Geraghty-type mappings satisfying rational inequalities in modular metric spaces. Our results include the results of [1] and [2] as special cases. Furthermore, we apply our main results in proving the existence and uniqueness of solution of nonlinear Barbashin-type integrodifferential equation satisfying a given initial value problem in modular metric space .

Fracture toughness measures the resistance of a material to fracture. This fundamental property is used in diverse engineering designs including mechanical, civil, materials, electronics and chemical engineering applications. In spite of the advancements made in the past 40 years, the evaluation of this remains challenging for extremely heterogeneous materials such as composite concretes.

Nanoparticles, which are desirable to a wide range of industries, have been shown to exhibit enhanced properties compared to their bulk counterparts. This enhancement has mostly been attributed to their large surface area-to-volume ratio and has attracted huge research interest in recent years. In this work, molecular dynamics simulations have been performed on anatase TiO2 nanoparticles with sizes ranging between 2 and 6 nm and at different temperatures.
