Lateral Approach for Excision of Maxillary Incisor Pseudo-Odontoma in Prairie Dogs (Cynomys ludovicianus).

Aim: To describe our experience with lateral approach for excision of maxillary pseudo-odontomas and to illustrate surgical outcomes and postoperative complications in seven pet prairie dogs.

Materials And Methods: Excision of 11 maxillary pseudo-odontomas was performed in seven prairie dogs with a lateral approach technique and clinical presentation, duration of surgery, time and type of post-surgical complications, presence or absence of symptom recurrence, time to follow-up, overall survival time and causes of death of each case were recorded.

Results: Duration of surgery, postoperative hospitalization and time to autonomous feeding were 54.

Background/aim: The purpose of this study was to assess the oxidative stress of aircraft pilots by evaluating different markers of oxidative stress and any imbalance between free radicals and antioxidants in plasma.

Patients And Methods: A group of 13 supersonic aircraft pilots, following regular exercise and personalized diet, were compared with a group of 40 healthy controls. Oxidative stress indicators, such as reactive oxidative metabolites, carbonyl proteins, 8-hydroxy-2-deoxyguanosine and total antioxidant status, were evaluated after three months of intense flight.

Vertical platysma myocutaneous flap reconstruction for T2-staged oral carcinoma.

The surgical resection of tumour-affected oral soft tissue structures often leads to tissue defects. Various techniques can be used for reconstruction. Our experience of using a vertical platysma myocutaneous flap in a group of patients who underwent reconstruction after T2-staged oral cancer surgical resection associated with neck dissection is described.

Plasmatic cytokine network in patients with laryngeal carcinoma after surgical treatment.

Alterations in host immunity, inflammation, angiogenesis and metabolism are all prominent clinical features in patients with laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma (LSCC). Although the origin of the signals and mechanisms underlying these responses are not well understood, their local and systematic nature suggest that squamous cell carcinoma-produced cytokines with proinflammatory and immunoregulatory activity may contribute to the pathogenesis of LSCC. In order to gain a better insight into the roles and relationships of the cytokines, we investigated serum IL-6, IL-10 and IL-12 concentrations in LSCC patients under baseline conditions and after surgery.
