Imaging identifies submandibular ectopic thyroid tissue.

The identification of submandibular ectopic normal thyroid in the lateral neck with a coexisting normally located and functional thyroid gland is rare. Ectopic normal thyroid tissue in the midline location is most commonly related to aberrant migration along the thyroglossal duct (ie, lingual thyroid). A 54-year-old man with a 6-month history of visible asymptomatic swelling in the right submandibular region had ultrasonography and Tc-99m pertechnetate imaging.

Pristine extraterrestrial material with unprecedented nitrogen isotopic variation.

Pristine meteoritic materials carry light element isotopic fractionations that constrain physiochemical conditions during solar system formation. Here we report the discovery of a unique xenolith in the metal-rich chondrite Isheyevo. Its fine-grained, highly pristine mineralogy has similarity with interplanetary dust particles (IDPs), but the volume of the xenolith is more than 30,000 times that of a typical IDP.

Teaching and training programme on carbohydrate counting in Type 1 diabetic patients.

Carbohydrates (CHO) are a major determinant of post-prandial blood glucose in the diet of people with Type 1 diabetes mellitus, but patients frequently fail to evaluate CHO food content. Poor education is thought to contribute heavily to this failure. Our aim was to plan and evaluate a simple educational program to improve dietary knowledge and teach how to count CHO in Type 1 diabetic subjects.

[Fallopian tube adenocarcinoma: synchronous neoplasia and severe uterine endocervical squamous epithelial dysplasia].

We report a rare case of primary carcinoma of the fallopian tube. A 72-year-old post-menopausal woman presenting with abnormal secretion of blood-stained liquid, underwent surgery because of findings of atypical squamous cells (ASCUS) on a routine Papanicolaou smear. The histological diagnosis on cervical biopsy was of CIN 3.

Carcinosarcoma of penis. Case report and review of the literature.

AIMS OF THE STUDY: Carcinosarcomas (sarcomatoid carcinomas) are controversial, biphasic tumors composed of both carcinomatous and sarcomatous elements. They are uncommon and occur in numerous locations. At the time of this report only 3 cases of carcinosarcoma of penis have been reported in the literature.
