Staphyloccocal scalded skin syndrome in an adult.

We report a case of staphyloccocal scalded skin syndrome due to an oxacillin-susceptible Staphylococcus aureus in an 81-year-old woman. The patient was admitted to the emergency room with arthritis of the left shoulder, ten days after an intra-articular injection of corticosteroids. The shoulder's puncture showed a purulent liquid and gram positive cocci in cluster suggesting the presence of Staphylococcus sp.

Plasmid DNA was irradiated with a medical fast-neutron beam in the presence of either (10)B or (11)B. The number of induced SSBs and DSBs was much higher in samples containing (10)B compared to (11)B.

Fluorine determination in human and animal bones by particle-induced gamma-ray emission.

Fluorine was determined in the iliac crest bones of patients and in ribs collected from post-mortem investigations by particle-induced gamma-ray emission based on the 19F(p,p'gamma)19F reaction, using 2.0/2.5 MeV protons.

Oxygen determination in calcium fluoride by deuteron activation analysis.

Oxygen at trace level in calcium fluoride was determined by instrumental deuteron activation analysis based on the 16O(d,n)17F reaction. The irradiations were performed with 2.5 MeV deuterons for 60 s at currents ranging from 300 to 500 nA.

Quantitative study of the coral transformations 'in vivo' by several physical analytical methods.

Coral has been used for the last ten years as bone substitution in the body because of its mechanic and osteoconductor properties. Our primary studies have shown, for the first time, the quantitative behaviour of the atomic components.
