Providers' Perceived Value of Clinical Pharmacist and Technician Services within Primary Care Clinics.

Several studies have demonstrated the benefit of clinical pharmacy services in primary care. However, studies are limited on providers' perceived value of embedded primary care pharmacy teams. The purpose of this project was to determine how primary care clinical pharmacists and technicians provide value to medical providers.

This study assesses the level of agreement on medication therapy problem (MTP) identification and classification between primary care, ambulatory care pharmacists within a health-system that recently implemented system-wide pharmacist provision of comprehensive medication management (CMM) services. Retinal arterial pulsation as an indicator of raised intraocular pressure.

Ophthalmic emergencies are invariably challenging for the non-specialist to identify and evaluate, and may be complicated by occult but vision threatening raised intraocular pressure. We present a case of hypertensive uveitis accompanied by the finding of retinal arterial pulsation, which when visualised by direct ophthalmoscopy allows the non-specialist to identify significantly raised intraocular pressure requiring urgent evaluation by an ophthalmologist.

An observational clinical study of the influence of phacoemulsification on choroidal neovascular membrane activity in age related macular degeneration.

Background: Thousands of phacoemulsification surgeries are performed on eyes with age-related macular degeneration (AMD) complicated by choroidal neovascular membrane (CNV) in the United Kingdom each year. As populations age this number is expected to rise. Controversy over phacoemulsification's influence on CNV activity limits the information which clinicians and these patients use to decide on surgery.

Early Implementation of Comprehensive Medication Management within an Academic Medical Center Primary Care Pharmacy Team.

Introduction: University of Utah Health is an academic health care system that serves residents in Utah and beyond. Clinical pharmacists with the health care system's pharmacy primary care services (PPCS) team provide medication education, population-based care, and medication management through collaborative practice agreements. With the expansion of clinical pharmacist and technician positions and services, the need to measure and assess the impact of pharmacy services and create a value proposition for internal and external stakeholders became an important goal, and the decision was made to better align practices across all PPCS sites.
