AbstractThe metapopulation concept offers significant explanatory power in ecology and evolutionary biology. Metapopulations, a set of spatially distributed populations linked by dispersal, and their community and ecosystem level analogs, metacommunity and meta-ecosystem models, tend to be more stable regionally than locally. This fact is largely attributable to the interplay of spatiotemporal heterogeneity and dispersal (the inflationary effect).

Unraveling Various Sources of Particulates Matter in Air-Dust Samples Collected from North India Through Elemental Mapping and Concentration Correlation Using Micro-Particle-Induced X-Ray Emission Spectroscopy.

Particulate matter (PM) found in the air is one of the major sources of pollution and air-borne diseases. Therefore, it is imperative to examine the elemental concentration distribution of the PM to identify the pollutant sources. In this study, it has demonstrated the capabilities of micro-particle-induced X-ray emission (micro-PIXE) spectroscopy in quantitative analysis of air samples collected from the Old Delhi outdoor market and indoor locations in the Panjab University hostel in the winter months.

Adapting a style based generative adversarial network to create images depicting cleft lip deformity.

Training a machine learning system to evaluate any type of facial deformity is impeded by the scarcity of large datasets of high-quality, ethics board-approved patient images. We have built a deep learning-based cleft lip generator called CleftGAN designed to produce an almost unlimited number of high-fidelity facsimiles of cleft lip facial images with wide variation. A transfer learning protocol testing different versions of StyleGAN as the base model was undertaken.

Exploring the Feasibility of a Caregiver Burden-Mastery Hybrid Assessment Tool With Decision Matrix in a Memory Clinic: A Multimethod Study.

Introduction: Family members caring for a person living with dementia (PWD) can experience caregiver burden, leading to psychological distress if unmanaged. It's essential for healthcare professionals, especially nurses to identify caregivers at risk of stress and depression, triggering prompt management during their contact with caregivers of PWD. The study team developed an evidence-based caregiver burden-mastery hybrid assessment and intervention decision matrix (CHAT-MI) for caregivers of PWD and examined its feasibility of use.

Developing a theory of change to guide the design and implementation of a caregiver-centric support service.

Background: Set against the backdrop of a rapidly ageing population and growing emphasis on the importance of ageing-in-place, family members often assume the role of a caregiver. Navigating through a complex healthcare system while simultaneously juggling the daily care needs of their care-recipients, caregivers often become worn out by the intense caregiver stress and burden, neglecting their own well-being. This translates to adverse health and economic outcomes such as prolonged hospital stays and increased nursing home placement of care-recipients.
