Article Synopsis
  • Autoimmune connective tissue disorders (AICTDs) are chronic inflammatory diseases that can lead to complications like peripheral neuropathy, which may be difficult to detect without routine testing.
  • This study assessed 100 AICTD patients over 15 months, using nerve conduction studies to identify subclinical peripheral neuropathy and evaluate its relationship with various laboratory and autoimmune markers.
  • Results showed that 18% of participants had subclinical neuropathy, with these patients being older on average (49.66 years) compared to those without neuropathy, who averaged 46.02 years, highlighting the need for early detection strategies.

  • Nasal packing is a common procedure done after intranasal surgeries to prevent complications like bleeding and infections.
  • This study compared the effectiveness of Merocel nasal packing with Glove finger nasal packing after surgeries such as Septoplasty and Polypectomy.
  • Results showed no significant differences in outcomes, but patients with Glove finger packs experienced slightly faster mucociliary clearance, indicating both methods are effective.

Article Synopsis
  • This study aims to develop high-performance nano biocomposites using unsaturated polyester resin reinforced with pre-treated short sunn hemp fibers and 5% nanoclay through compression molding.
  • The addition of 5% nanoclay significantly boosted the flexural strength of the biocomposites, increasing it by about 165% for HO-treated fibers and 148% for KMnO-treated fibers compared to untreated ones.
  • The nanoclay also reduced water absorption from 11.86% in untreated samples to just 2.76% in HO-treated SH/PE nanobiocomposites, indicating potential for use in applications like aerospace, automotive components, and household products.

Loop diuretics are regarded as essential for the treatment of edematous conditions in heart failure, cirrhosis, and renal disease. The principal mechanism of action involves inhibiting the reabsorption of ions (Na+, 2Cl-, and K+) from the ascending loop of Henle. The pharmacokinetic (PK) and pharmacodynamic (PD) features of the commonly used diuretics (torsemide, furosemide, and bumetanide) influence the selection of diuretics in various disease states and dosing regimens.
