When encountering complex fluorescence decays that deviate from exponentiality, a very appealing approach is to use lifetime or rate constant distributions. These are related by Laplace transform to the sum of exponential functions, stretched exponentials, Becquerel's decay function, and others. However, the limitations of this approach have not been sufficiently discussed in the literature.

This study reports the design of 30 6-1,2-oxazin-6-ones against DHFR and PTC antimicrobial targets. Docking compounds 1, 3, 4, 6, and 8 with both enzymes was favorable, outperforming Trimethoprim with DHFR. Therefore, 12 6-1,2-oxazin-6-ones, including the most promising compounds, were synthesized through an aminolysis reaction of β-cyanoketones with hydroxylamine hydrochloride, obtaining moderate to high yields (55-88%).

Four donor-acceptor boron difluoride complexes based on the carbazole electron donor and the [1,3,5,2]oxadiazaborinino[3,4-a][1,8]naphthyridine acceptor were designed, synthesized, and systematically spectroscopically investigated in solutions, in dye-doped polymer films, and in the solid states. The dyes exhibit an intense blue to red solid-state emission with photoluminescence quantum yields of up to 59 % in pure dye samples and 86 % in poly(methyl methacrylate) films. All boron complexes show aggregation-induced emission and reversible mechanofluorochromism.

Widespread habitat-forming invaders inhabiting marinas, such as the spaghetti bryozoan Amathia verticillata, allow exploring facilitation processes across spatiotemporal contexts. Here we investigate the role of this bryozoan as habitat for native and exotic macrofaunal assemblages across different ecoregions of Western Mediterranean and East Atlantic coasts, and a monthly variation over a year. While only 7 (all peracarid crustaceans) of the 54 associated species were NIS, they dominated macrofaunal assemblages in terms of abundance, raising the potential for invasional meltdown.
