The activities of superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase, glutathione peroxidase (GPx), glutathione reductase (GR), glutathione transferase (GST), the content of reduced glutathione (GSH) and malondialdehyde (MDA) were investigated in the samples of the tumor, peritumoral zone and healthy tissue, taken at the line of resection, were obtained from 14 patients with primary squamous cell carcinoma of the vulva, and 13 patients with local recurrence appeared in the period from 3 months to 7 years. by conventional spectrophotometric methods. The content of GSH and the activity of SOD, GPx, GR, GST were significantly increased, while MDA was decreased in the tissue of the primary carcinoma of the vulva in compared with the healthy tissue.

Changes in the redox balance in them can result in disruption of the normal tissue control. Understanding of the biology of redox processes in a particular tumor and its surroundings, and of their functioning mechanisms is necessary for the development of new anti-cancer strategies based on the effects on the redox state of the tumor and surrounding tissue.

Among all studied groups of oncogynecological patients, the most expressed decreasing of functional activity of albumin binding toxic compounds is observed under ascitic form of ovary cancer. In the group of patients with ovary cancer of stage I-II and also in condition of remission of process in patients with ovary cancer of stage III, the values of total and effective concentration of albumin and its binding capacity, on the contrary, are approaching to donor values.

The blood from 35 apparently healthy women served as a control. The magnitude of changes in MVNe and in the intensity of MSNe was found to increase in patients when the level of WBC and the content of neutrophils were elevated.

Hormonal imbalance was established at all levels of the endocrine system, viz. increased concentrations of cortisol and 17-HOCS, decreased ACTH level, shift in androgen/estrogen and androgen/progestin ratios towards testosterone, lowered FSH and somatotropin output and elevated blood-prolactin level.
