[Prediction of a risk for drug resistance in the pathogen of pulmonary tuberculosis].

The authors studied the spread of drug resistance in Mycobacterium tuberculosis was studied in Armenia and its association with risk factors in 1114 patients with positive bacterial culture and developed a mathematical method for early detection of a risk of its developed, which had been tested in 210 patients. Over 3 years (2002-2004), there was a rise in multiple drug resistance from 8.83 to 10.

Normalizing the crossover effect: enhancement of cognitive attentional processing in schizophrenia.

Thirty male schizophrenic subjects and 20 male control subjects were administered both the classic Rodnick and Shakow reaction time (RT) procedure and a modified experimental procedure using a balanced design in an attempt to enhance cognitive attentional processing and inhibit the crossover effect in schizophrenic patients. The experimental procedure increased the number of predictable trials, provided more information about the task and presented the regular trials in a simple ascending order. Analysis of the RT data showed the typical early schizophrenic crossover and late normal crossover on the standard task, while schizophrenic patients in the experimental condition showed a new finding of statistically significant normalization of the early crossover effect.

Communication styles of children of mothers with affective disorders, chronic medical illness, and normal controls: a contextual perspective.

Research has demonstrated impaired parent-child relationships in families with affective disorders. The present study examines the association of children's interactional style during a direct conflict-solving task to both the mother's interactional style and the child's diagnostic status. The sample includes 63 children, ages 8 to 16, of mothers with affective disorders, chronic medical illness, and normal controls.

[The outpatient treatment possibilities for patients with exacerbated peptic ulcer].

The efficacy of hospital and ambulatory treatment of patients with peptic ulcer exacerbation was compared. 209 patients were treated in the hospital and 116 on an ambulatory basis. No appreciable differences were found in the times of the removal of the painful syndrome or gastroduodenal ulcer healing.

[New antioxidant factors secreted by the gastrointestinal tract].

It is shown, that the cells of gastric and small intestinal tissues synthesize the unidentified compounds, which suppress the peroxidation of lipids in the renal, hepatic and brain tissues. The gastric factor is thermostabile, while the intestinal factor is partially thermolabile. In case of gastrointestinal pathology the activity of these factors is reduced.
