Promoting Psychological Health and Safety in Canadian Healthcare Organizations.

This article analyzes findings from the Health Standards Organization's new Global Workforce Survey (GWS). The GWS enables healthcare organizations to measure, analyze and benchmark their workforce's perceptions of working conditions, safety culture and care quality against peers. The GWS measures key features of The National Standard of Canada for Psychological Health and Safety in the Workplace (CSA Group and Bureau de normalisation du Québec 2013; MHCC 2013).

Efficacy, safety, and quality of life 4 years after valoctocogene roxaparvovec gene transfer for severe hemophilia A in the phase 3 GENEr8-1 trial.

Background: Valoctocogene roxaparvovec, an adeno-associated virus-mediated gene therapy for severe hemophilia A, enables endogenous factor (F)VIII expression and provides bleed protection.

Objectives: Determine valoctocogene roxaparvovec durability, efficacy, and safety 4 years after treatment.

Methods: In the phase 3 GENEr8-1 trial, 134 adult male persons with severe hemophilia A without inhibitors and previously using FVIII prophylaxis received a 6 × 10 vg/kg infusion of valoctocogene roxaparvovec.

UKHCDO gene therapy taskforce: Guidance for implementation of haemophilia gene therapy into routine clinical practice for adults.

Introduction: 2022 was a landmark year with two adeno-associated viral vectors (AAVs) receiving conditional marketing authorization from EMA for the treatment of persons with severe haemophilia A and severe to moderately severe haemophilia B and a third in 2024. Gene therapy is a transformative, irreversible treatment with long-lasting effects, necessitating development of new clinical pathways to ensure optimal outcomes.

Aim: To develop a consensus framework and service specification for delivery of AAV gene therapy for haemophilia in adults within the UK using the hub-and-spoke model proposed by the European Association of Haemophilia and Allied Disorders and the European Haemophilia Consortium.

Exploring healthcare professionals' knowledge of how to identify and respond to child sexual abuse.

Evidence on the incidence of child sexual abuse (CSA) indicates it is a global epidemic that adversely affects the short- and long-term physical and mental health outcomes of those affected. Learning from safeguarding practice reviews suggests healthcare professionals (HCPs) are in a unique position to identify and intervene when they suspect CSA. However, research suggests that HCPs have insufficient knowledge to identify CSA, intervene and manage the individual's care.

Acute Care Nurses' Partnership With Patients to Recognise and Respond to Changes in Patients' Clinical States: A Qualitative Study.

Aim: To explore and describe acute care nurses' partnership with patients to recognise and respond to changes in patients' clinical states. Acute care nurses' decisions to partner with patients to recognise deterioration in clinical states and to respond by activating a rapid response system improves patient outcomes. Acutely unwell patients can also experience clinical changes that include improvement and deterioration that does not trigger rapid response system activation over the course of hospitalisation from illness and treatment.
